Hotel Katarina at the London WTM

This year, the Hotel Katarina team participated in one of the most important tourism fairs in the world.

The World Travel Market (WTM) in London is the leading global event for the travel industry. Held from November 5th to November 7th, 2018, it featured a significant presence of the Croatian Tourist Board, hotel managers, and tourist agencies. It is one of the most important tourist markets in the world with more than 50,000 visitors, featuring nearly 5000 exhibitors from 185 tourist destinations.

This year’s WTM was marked by an increase in the British market, but this trend will be followed by other markets that are significant for Croatia, with a growth rate of 7%, despite the big return of Greece and Turkey.

New Contacts, New Opportunities for Growth

In addition to maintaining our long-term business relationships, our hotel team has made numerous new contacts and started a number of new partnerships. London is always a great place to make deals in, so we do not doubt that this fruitful stay will contribute to the continued growth trend.

Apart from visits to a destination, exhibitors at the fair also promoted other tourist content at their destinations, such as cultural and historical heritage, eno-gastronomy, active vacations, nautical beauty, stunning nature, and other tourism segments.

How to Attract Visitors?

We would like to particularly praise the presentations of India, Costa Rica and Mexico, to whose charms no visitor of the fair remained indifferent. The vivacity of their booths, the warm charm of their hosts; the entertainment, the delicacies and the activities in which visitors could participate were sufficient to attract not only new business partners but guests as well.

Although at the end of a productive day filled with meetings there was not much time left over for fun, we could not resist henna painting at the booth of India, getting into Harry Potter costumes or dressing up in luxurious traditional Korean costumes.

Now that WTM is behind us, it is on us to put those new contacts to good use and carefully prepare for new fairs, the season of which has just started.

Never stop exploring! Meet the team of Katarina Hotel on our stand (shared with Croatian National Tourist Board) at Matka 17-20.01.2019 & ITB Berlin 6-10.03.2019.
